Festival, including two star-studded parties, to take place October 4–5 in Greenport, NY

Greenport, NY (July 10, 2019) — The North Fork TV Festival announced the winners of its competition for independent pilots. Chosen for their artistic merit and commercial potential, the four winners will screen along with family programming on October 4–5, 2019, at the Greenport Theatre in Greenport, NY. These are the winning pilots:

  • M — created by Javier Devitt

  • OTIS — created by Alexander Etseyatse

  • RAINBOW RUTHIE — created by Ruth Marantz

  • UPS AND DOWNS — created by Eoin Cleland

Each of the selections was handpicked by a specific member of a team of esteemed showrunners, including Theresa Rebeck (creator of “Smash”), Rockne S. O’Bannon (creator of “Defiance”), David Feige (co-creator of “Raising the Bar”), and David Greenwalt (co-creator of “Grimm”).

“Our vision is a global marketplace for independent scripted video,” said Founder Noah Doyle. “We’re starting that as explicitly as we can — by pairing extraordinary creators with showrunners who will be their mentors and champions.”

The judges will be distinguished, active guests of the Festival. Following the screening of each pilot, the judge who selected it will moderate a discussion with the pilot’s creator. “The other judges and I were incredibly impressed with the seven finalists and are honored to curate the four winners,” said Theresa Rebeck. “They will delight casual viewers and excite even the toughest, most experienced buyers. We can’t wait for October to see which pilots get sold.”

The lineup represents the very best of independent television in every genre. “Working closely with our acclaimed showrunners to determine this year’s selections was tremendously rewarding,” said Elias Plagianos, Director of Programming. “We have laughs, thrills, and drama — all from a diverse group of creators with unique perspectives.”

The Festival is also honored to bestow Alice Cahn with its inaugural Award for Achievement in Children’s Television on Saturday, October 5. A leader in kids’ media for three decades, Alice has enriched countless childhoods with programs like Arthur, The Magic School Bus, Sesame Street, Peppa Pig, Teletubbies, Barney, and Stop Bullying: Speak Up.

“Children's media is, and has always been, at the forefront of social change,” said Alice Cahn. “With this year's focus on kindness and social skills in an increasingly challenging political environment, I am grateful to the North Fork Television Festival for honoring the media young children enjoy, learn from, and trust.”

The festival will then host The Power of Kindness: Family Program with Alice Cahn, sponsored by Disney Channels Worldwide, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and WGBH Kids. This conversation with Alice and children’s media consultant, creator, and curator Sara Berliner will discuss how storytelling can take us from inspiration to action.

“It's a true honor for me to present Alice Cahn with this prestigious award,” said Sara Berliner. “Attendees will learn so much from our screening and discussion about the power of kindness and how stories can inspire positive action.”

The official opening night party will be held on Friday, October 4, at the recently renovated Claudio’s Restaurant, and the closing night party taking place on Saturday, October 5, at Green Hill, a welcoming and lively restaurant and bar.

All-access passes include admission to these parties. They and tickets to individual events are now available for purchase at For more information, including the full list of events and screenings at this year’s festival, visit and follow @NorthForkTV on Instagram and Twitter.
